Are discounts profitable?

Added: 2009-06-23 15:44:08

Are discounts profitable? Is it a loss or gain? We will try to answer this question.

It's widely known that discounts attract clients to buying products at a particular shop. However, shop owners often ask themselves if it is worth to give discounts and whether lowering the price will make the loss lower than the gain. We firmly believe that fear of discounts is unjustified. Even though at first profits will be lower, in a long run it will attract more clients to our company and it will result in higher profits. If you are willing to compete with other sellers during e.g. Christmas time you can offer a discount together with a special gift - reward for larger purchases. Sometimes clients treat additional items given during purchases like a large discount. When we are talking about discounts we should define it as a resignation of the seller from a part of margin charged during normal shopping. When you plan advertising campaign it is good to offer clients discounts which would entice them to spend lots of money in your shop. However, you should remember that before you give a discount to your clients you should negotiate it for yourself. So if you choose your jewelry wholesale provider you should pay attention he gives you bonuses and other extras you can take advantage of and give to your own clients and make them loyal.
