Wedding Rings

Added: 2009-08-06 15:21:20

Wedding rings symbolize inseparability and stability of a marriage. The choice of wedding rings is both a pleasant duty and a life-long decision.

There are many doubts about the finger wedding rings and engagement ring should be worn. The basic problem involves the choice of a hand - should this be left or right hand? In many European countries people wear it on the left hand, that is why the ring is worn on the right hand. On the contrary, in Poland the groom puts the wedding ring on bride's right hand, therefore she should put the engagement ring on her left ring finger. Traditional customs say that the groom brings for the bride a wedding flower bouquet as well as wedding rings, which he chooses. Men usually choose gold rings, less often silver or platinum ones - they usually have engraving which are initials and the date of the wedding. What you have to remember is that financial reasons shouldn't be the most important when buying the wedding ring, because wedding rings are meant to be worn for the whole life and the couple should really like them. The groom takes care of them until the day of the wedding or gives the rings to his best man who gives the wedding rings to the priest. The idea of wedding rings dates back to the Ancient Egyptian times where people started to wear them. But men have started to wear them every day quite recently. The appearance of wedding rings brought about several superstitions. One of them says that no one can drop wedding rings during the ceremony as it brings bad luck. Sometimes, however, you can do nothing about such a situation, in such case only a priest or a ceremony master can pick them up. An old saying claims that the bride shouldn't try the wedding rings on nor see them. She can look at the ring once she feels it on her ring finger.
