Added: 2008-10-07 11:58:56

Carnelian jewelry has a nice red color which varies from orange to red.

The name of carnelian derives from a Latin word "carnis" - which means body, meat, it reflects its red color. The colors vary from red, orange or brown, the brown color is removed in the effect of warming up. Carnelian is found in rocks which are typical for chalcedony: India, Brazil, Romania and Poland. It is often used in jewelry for production of pendants and necklaces. Apart from that, carnelian has plenty of healing properties: heals rheumatism, infertility and helps to achieve success during various exams. It also blocks bleeding, thank to this property it was used by soldiers in Roman legions. It is advisable to be worn by women as it helps to understand natural biological cycles of our bodies. Carnelian is believed to be the stone which links mental and physical aspects of our lives, in other words we can be sure to reach a balance of our organism. This stone suggests that we should take care of our body as we are the only inhabitants of it. In the ancient times, when medicine was still unknown, a carnelian was a perfect painkiller. It helped cope with menstrual pain and helped during labor. In the Ancient Egypt people used to call carnelian Isis blood as they believed it protects them from the dangerous world of shadow.
