The name malachite derives from the word "malache" which means mallow. Usually, it appears in the form of kidney-like gatherings. In the past, malachite was used in building industry and jewelry. These days, it is mostly used for decorative purposes. Vestigial amounts of malachite were found in Poland near Kielce, they were used for melting copper.
