Nephrite

Added: 2008-07-23 12:59:01

Nephrite is a mineral which has been appreciated by people for many years. Nephrite gem is used not only for jewelry making but also for healing properties.

Nephrite usually has green color although it's not its natural shade. It's possible to meet gray, milky and red nephrites. Green nephrite is often known as the stone of life, it was valued highly among Chinese emperors. It was also considered to be a kind of amulet protecting from various diseases. That is why weak and frail emperors used to sleep on a bed cut in nephrite. In Rome and Greece this stone helped gamblers and chariot riders achieve success. In the middle ages there was a belief that nephrite helps overcome migraines or sight disorders. Despite the fact that nephrite has plenty of useful properties people with star signs Gemini and Sagittarius should avoid them.
