There are certain stones which are used in jewelry often or are bred specifically for their attractiveness. What are the stones for jewelry?

1) Brilliant, in jewelry terminology, is a diamond with a special brilliant cut. However, in trade and in colloquial language "brilliant" describes every diamond which was cut and polished. The brilliant cut is believed to demand the greatest artistry form a jeweler: it has 57 facets, 33 at the top of the stone and 24 in the base which make the gem look as though it was round.

2) Round cut stones - this group includes gem stones with a round, polished cut. The gems usually are flat at their base and a round top. This type of cutting is suitable for non-transparent gemstones e.g. agate, onyx, turquoise.

3) Faceted gemstones - sapphires, grenades, onyxes or green agates

Sapphire is called the master of gemstones, it is believed to make people happy. Its coloring ranges from light blue to dark navy blue. Sapphire will be a perfect friend and a good adviser for people who want to develop their inner strength and soul as it makes thoughts clear, brings serenity and selflessness. Sapphire being carried with a man reverses the bad influence of stars and unfavorable arrangement of planets above. Sapphire is said to prevent from dangers or betrayals.

4) Synthetic stone - zircon is the most popular stone, it intends to imitate diamonds. It is a colorless gem which isn't based on any model found in nature. Synthetic gemstones are man-made products inspired by natural precious stones but their physical and chemical properties are similar to natural gem stones' properties.

5) Cultured pearl - natural pearls come from mussel, the substance found inside the mussel. The growing demand for pearls gave the beginning to the pearl-oyster breeding. Although cultured pearls are produced with men's help they are fully natural product.
