Turquoise is a mineral which looks great and is highly valued by many jewelers.

The name turquoise derives from the word Turkey and is connected with the trade route that had gone through those regions. The second name of the same mineral is "kalaite" - invented by Pliny the Elder and used for the first time by him. Crystals have colors from light blue, apple green to turquoise. Typical places where turquoise are found include sedimentary and igneous rocks in Iran, Egypt, Tibet, China or the USA. It is often used in jewelry for decorative purposes. Stones which resemble lace, with a dark web along with simple blue stones are the most valuable turquoises. A big minus of turquoise is its property of fading and changing colors influenced by light. As a result, synthetic stones which are supposed to resemble turquoise flow the market. Such beads cause disruption in trades, they are without any worth just like any other fake minerals.
