Zircon is a beautiful mineral which isn't highly valued by jewelers. Why? Read the article below.

Zircon belongs to the group of silicates. Its name derives from Persian words 'zar' which means gold and 'gun' - color. One of its types is called a hyacinth which has various colors: from yellow, orange to dark red. Zircon is a common mineral comprising igneous rocks, it is found in the USA, France, Burma, Australia and in Poland (Lower Silesia and beaches of the Baltic sea). In jewelry zircon is undervalued despite its aesthetic look whereas with proper cutting zircons could compete with diamonds. Accurate cutting is often impossible because of the fragility of the stones, we can notice roundness on their edges. Blue zircons are mostly sought for by jewelers, they are created by heating dark zircons.
