Gold or silver?

Silver or gold? What metal is in these days? Do fashions change so fast in jewelry too?

Fashion tendencies as well as consumer tastes change very rapidly. New trends appear now and again while old ones become quickly forgotten. In 21st century you can easily notice a growing interest in silver jewelry, gold becomes a metal of the wealthy ones. The process is caused by the growing price of gold, new designs and modern methods of production. Unique jewelry pieces that seemingly don't match each other are becoming more and more popular whereas standard ones go into oblivion. For instance, platinum and copper is popular these days. An ordinary Polish citizen spends only 110 PLN on jewelry and cannot be called connoisseur. The jewelry industry has to combat sellers who sell jewelry illegally (on streets or mineral fairs). According to the Polish Assay Office in Warsaw there are more and more precious metals sold in various mineral fairs even though the products are not well-prepared for the sales. The main reason for that is the lack of a hallmark by the Assay Office so the authorities have to control the fairs. It used to happen that more than 100 pieces of illegal jewelry was confiscated from a single seller.
