Ancient Egyptian Jewelry

Ancient Egyptian jewelry delights even in modern times. Lots of women would like to have even a small share of jewelry which was worn by women in ancient Egypt.





Ancient Egyptians have used their skills for various purposes since the beginning of existence of their country. They knew most of the modern processes of metal ornamentation, they were able to create engraved bracelets set with numerous stones, necklaces and other decorative objects. Metals Egyptians used most often included gold and silver, in which lots of stones were set: amethysts, turquoise or lazurite, glass, enamel. Egyptian jewelry had forms of a diadem, rings or wide bracelets. Egyptian women usually placed two bracelets on one arm at a time. One bracelet was placed around the wrist whereas the other was placed just above the elbow. Signet rings with religious ornamentation were also popular jewelry those days. Most of the jewelry was found in tombs of of pharaohs, especially in Tutankhamen's tomb.
