Extraction of Silver

Added: 2008-05-19 09:56:26

Extraction of silver or in other words extracting silver is a subject of this article. Read how silver used to be extracted and get informed about this precious metal.

Silver can be found with sulphur and chlorine and in ores (argentite and chlorargiryte). The main sources of silver are copper, lead and gold ores or ores of lead with zinc. It is obtained by electrolytic cleansing of copper or with Parsek's method, pure silver contains 99.999% of this metal. Silver is excavated in Canada, Mexico and the USA and Mexico is the biggest exporter of silver in the world, for example 2492 tons of silver were produced there in 2000. Thank to existence of deposits of copper and silver in Poland (KGHM Polish Copper Company) Poland is the third producer of silver in the world: it follows Australia and Mexico.
