The article describes the types of earrings and characterizes their advantages and disadvantages.

There are many models of earrings and clip-on earrings in the market together with all types of new end caps. Each producer creates its own name for their particular end caps which may be the same regardless of their name. The basic ones include posts, classical endings, kidney wires, French loops or Omega clips.

1. Posts - usually used for stud earrings where it is important to hide the end cap and exposing decorative elements. Even though such earrings are quite comfortable and effective it doesn't guarantee you won't loose an earring. A situation in which the back part slides down is common, in consequence, the whole earring is lost. Producers try to find solution to that problem by applying blockades or adding silicon to the end cap.

2. Classic closed earwire - as the name suggests it is the most common form of earwires widely known among people. The earwire has a mechanism similar to a safety pin and that prevents the earring from getting lost. The only problem in case of such end caps are their large sizes, which makes them impossible to be used with small products.

3. Kidney earwire - it is a mechanism which combines the best sides of the previous two elements, safety and comfort. An additional plus of such an earwire is adjusting them for sleeping so as you wouldn't have to take the earrings off for sleeping.

4. French loop - it doesn't have any protection from sliding down. However, it is constructed in such a way that it should be impossible to loose it. The most common forms of French loops include a thin wire of an ear shape that is ended with a small ornament.

5. Clip-on earings - it's a perfect solution for people who don't have pierced ears. They are ideal substitute of ordinary earrings. You have to remember though that the earring is placed in the ear thank to a double-sided elements. It shouldn't be used for large ornaments as it increases the risk of loosing.

6. Omega clips - it is a rarely used end cap as it combines the elements of posts and clip-on earring. It is undoubtedly very effective and safe. In addition to that, the post can be removed and an ordinary earring becomes a clip-on earring.
